Softball cleats should fit snugly with about a half-inch of room between your longest toe and the front of the shoe. Wear the same thickness socks you'll play in when trying cleats on for an accurate fit. Walk around and make a few lateral cuts to check for heel slipping or pinching. Since cleats don't stretch much after break-in, getting the right size from the start is more important than with casual shoes.
